I had an amazing experience for a whole weekend at the yoga retreat. Arriving at the farm house was magical – it was secluded and felt hundreds of miles away from city life. The journey took me an hour – but should have only taken 30 minutes because I got lost on the way!
On our first day we tucked into a lovely meal of home cooked lentils, vegetables, and naan bread but were then quickly off for an early night as it was a quarter to six wake up for our early morning yoga! That first session was deeply calming; we did yoga to the birdsong and the slowly rising sun. Afterwards, after a short (well-earned!) break we did a session of meditation. After such an early start I was a bit worried about falling asleep, but the meditation-by-candles was invigorating – so much so that we went for breakfast and took a walk through the surrounding farmland and countryside afterwards. No class was the same, the variety between sessions kept providing new challenges and different feelings of calmness and energy.
I felt relaxed and peaceful. Every muscle of my body ached but this was like a prize for my yoga achievements. This was only my second break away from my family in the last 35 years (!) but I can’t wait to do the next retreat – maybe I’ll take my husband next time!!
Enjoyed the weekend and wish you many more successes – Usha
